Great Lakes CCC Is Making It Easier To Reduce The Runoff

The Great Lakes CCC Reduce The Runoff program in Racine County can help you receive free landscaping for preventing stormwater flooding, sewer back-ups, soil erosion and sewage in local waterways on or near your property. If your property qualifies for landscape improvements, we may install soil amendments, core aeration, rain gardens, stormwater trees, bioswales and permeable pavement. Help us reduce stormwater runoff and improve the health and beauty of Racine County properties, streams, and Lake Michigan!

We Will Manage Stormwater Where It Falls

When it rains heavily, too much water quickly enters the water treatment system. By capturing stormwater on site, you can slow its flow and help trap, filter and remove Racine County’s pollution from runoff.  With your help, we can create millions of gallons of storage for rainwater.

– Lawn Aeration & Soil Amendments –

Aerating your lawn allows water, air and fertilizer to penetrate down to the root zone which helps the roots grow deeper and create a healthier and thicker lawn. Regular additions of soil materials provide needed nutrients and improve the soil’s physical nature to grow vegetation.

– Rain Gardens –

Rain gardens are designed to capture rain water and prevent the rapid release of excess stormwater into municipal water systems. A well placed rain garden reduces runoff and flooding, and filters pollutants carried in stormwater runoff.

– Stormwater Trees –
Stormwater trees temporarily slow runoff and reduce pollutants by taking up nutrients and other pollutants from soils and water through their roots. Trees transform pollutants into less harmful substances.
